The Bass Drum is a crucial part of any drumline. It is part of the rhythm section, making it a large part of a line.  Along with Cymbals, bass drums make up the rhythm section.  They help keep a steady beat throughout any piece.  Bass Drums come in many sizes.  Some companies make bass drums that range up to 32" x 16" in size (More Sizes ).  Bass Drums, as well as tenors and snares have carriers (or harnesses) to make it easier for marching.  They also have stands, cases, and covers.

Bass Drum sticks are usually large mallets, sometimes known as "beaters".  These help create a large "boom" sound when playing the bass drum.  Bass Drum mallets can be purchased from Vic Firth online.  Link
